In 1970, Pontiac produced 40,149 GTO 2dr coupes. Of that total number, less than 9% were convertibles (only 3,615 vehicles) and of the 3,615 Rag Tops, only 114 cars were assembled with a 400 CID Ram Air III engine. This is a real GTO convertible, which has been upgraded with the correct, and very rare “WA” code 455HO power plant producing an industry leading 360 advertised horsepower. The engine is date code correct with the correct “64” heads. The casting # is 979914 and the date code on the block is L 25 9. This motor was located in Florida where it was rebuilt to original new factory specifications, and shipped to Canada for installation. Thousands of dollars were spent on a complete frame-off restoration of this car. A 42 picture photo album of photos of the restoration of this car, documents the attention and the dollars of expense that were spent to make this car very collectible. This car has Pontiac Historical Society ( PHS) documentation. Options on this car include a rebuilt Turbo 400 automatic transmission, a new tan coloured power convertible top, complete rebuild and repaint of the convertible top mechanism, power steering, brakes, windows and power seats. A custom Alpine car sound system has been neatly added to the car. Complementing the “Ram Air” hood scoops is a functioning Pontiac hood tachometer, the correct “Judge” rear deck spoiler, Pontiac Rally II wheels with P235 X 60R front and P255 X60R rear Radial BFG TA tires and trim rings. The interior is a complimenting green bucket seats and console combination with an original Am radio. Additional Oil Pressure, Volt Meter and Water Temperature gauges have been neatly added above the console.
